Leeds United player Joel Robles sends message to Everton star Jordan Pickford after contract news

Leeds United player Joel Robles has sent a message of congratulations to Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after he signed a new contract at the club on Friday (23 February).

The club confirmed that the England international put pen to paper in a deal that will keep him at Goodison Park until June 2027.

The 28-year-old was a crucial player in the club’s fight against relegation last season and is expected to play a key role under new manager Sean Dyche as he looks to propel the club away from the drop zone.

Leeds keeper Robles took to Instagram (Friday 23, February) to congratulate Pickford – whom he crossed paths with at Goodison Park in the 2017/18 season – on pledging his future to the Merseyside club.

He commented on the keeper’s Instagram post: “Congrats Piki, all the best.”

Brilliant

The coup of Pickford is quite a sensational piece of business, considering the current predicament the club find itself in. Sitting 16th in the Premier League and well within the clutches of relegation isn’t the usual time for a key player to sign a new contract, but it shows Pickford’s faith in the project under Dyche.

The English manager has instilled a feel-good factor at Goodison Park remarkably quickly, and although they remain in danger of relegation, at least they have a strong pair of hands at the helm.

With Pickford in between the sticks, the likes of James Tarkowski and Conor Coady in defence, and Dyche in the dugout, the Toffees have a strong base to get out of their current rut.

The England number one is going to have to be at his very best to help Everton navigate a route to Premier League survival, and if he can repeat his heroics from last season, they will stand a fair chance of doing so.
