Everton transfer news as competitive bid lined up to sign Renan Lodi

Everton are willing to make a competitive offer for Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, according to Fichajes.net.

Sources close to Everton share that Atletico Madrid would be open to negotiating with the Toffees for a lower amount after Forest have decided against signing Lodi permanently for £26.5m.

The interest in Lodi is a clear sign of Everton’s ambitious project next summer, but the Toffees are likely to face competition, as other big-name clubs have also expressed interest in the left-back.

Lodi has made 16 appearances in the Premier League this season, and a further four appearances have come in the League Cup.

He is a versatile defender who can play as a left-back or a left-sided midfielder. He is a highly-rated attacking full-back and would be a smart addition to the Toffees squad.

The left-back is one area that needs attention. Vitalii Mykolenko has cemented his position in the starting line-up, but there’s no competition in his position.

Ruben Vinagre joined from Sporting on loan, but he has barely featured for the club.

It can be said that the Toffees won’t be willing to sign him permanently next summer, which means the club will need to land a new left-back.

However, the transfer plans are not immediate priorities for the club. Everton’s policy in the summer largely depends on where they finish at the end of the season.

If they manage to stay in the Premier League, then obviously, a move for Lodi makes sense.
