Piers Morgan shares Everton demolition verdict live on talkSPORT after loss v Arsenal

Piers Morgan claimed Arsenal “demolished” Everton in the second half of their Premier League fixture at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.

A Gabriel Martinelli brace, along with goals from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka completed a comfortable evening’s work for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Talking on talkSPORT Breakfast on Thursday morning, Morgan shared his verdict on the victory.

“We could not have come back in a more emphatic manner against a team which beat us recently at Goodison Park,” said Morgan live on talkSPORT (09m 12s, 2 March).

“First half was tough and competitive, but in the second half we completely demolished them.”

The two goals on the stroke of halftime were an absolute killer for Sean Dyche’s men. Up until Bukayo Saka’s first strike, they had restricted their hosts to very little in what was a competent defensive performance.

However, what Dyche cannot legislate for is mistakes such as Idrissa Gana Gueye’s gift for the Gunners’ second goal. You simply cannot offer a team of Arsenal’s quality the chance to double their lead in such a way.

The two goals in the second half goals were expected, with the Toffees needing to come out of their shell to try and get back into the game. However, if we are being honest, Everton never really looked like threatening Aaron Ramsdale in the Arsenal goal.

Attention now must swiftly turn to Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Games against relegation rivals will define Everton’s season and another defeat at the weekend could prove fatal.

Everton will head to the East Midlands without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is expected to be out for a number of weeks.
