Sky Sports pundit very worried about Everton behind the scenes as ‘good guy’ Dave Harrison leaves for Manchester United

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Dave Harrison is “one of the good guys” and his exit to Manchester United after 27 years at Everton has left Kevin Campbell very concerned about the club behind the scenes.

The Toffees confirmed in a statement on 17 February that the director of football operations would depart at the end of the month for Old Trafford, thanking him for his “outstanding dedication”.

Sky Sports pundit Campbell only has good things to say about the departing man, but fears what it means for Everton if someone like that has gone.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “Not surprised. Dave Harrison is one of the good guys. Very knowledgeable, very smart, very sharp.

“It’s another one of those things, when the good people are leaving you question things.

“Dave Harrison has been in and around that club for a long time, 27 years, he’s a good guy.

“If he’s leaving to go to Manchester United something ain’t right if I’m honest with you.”

Everton

Directors at Everton aren’t generally a popular group of people these days so it speaks volumes about Harrison that he has been praised widely on his way out.

He still managed to fit in Jordan Pickford’s contract extension as a parting gift before he left, but it doesn’t reflect well on the direction of travel under Farhad Moshiri’s ownership that after 27 years he’s brought his connection with the Toffees to an end.

Campbell will be far from alone in fearing for the situation behind closed doors at the club, amid a broken relationship between the board and the fans while Everton stare down the barrel of relegation for the second time in two seasons.
