Everton transfer news as club must test Arsenal resolve of ‘special’ Reiss Nelson
Everton must test the transfer resolve of Arsenal and launch a summer move for Reiss Nelson after 90min linked the Blues with a move for the forward on 5 March.
The 90min report suggests that Nelson isn’t close to agreeing to a new contract with the Gunners and this is something the Toffees must take advantage of.
Nelson was described by Mikel Arteta as a “special” talent after Arsenal’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Portsmouth back in 2020 but has since been underused by the Spaniard.

“We have pace in a few players up front. Reiss [Nelson] is a special player and can eliminate players one on one. He’s been out for a while but he’s back now and he showed what he’s capable of doing,” said Arteta to BT Sport after Arsenal’s FA Cup win over Portsmouth as quoted by the Evening Standard. (2 March 2020)
Nelson yet again showed his quality for Arsenal in the Gunners’ 3-2 comeback win over Bournemouth on 4 March, with the forward grabbing a last-minute winner at the Emirates Stadium.
Now, a lot of Everton’s summer transfer dealings will depend on whether or not the club stay in the Premier League but if they do, a move for Nelson must be considered.
The forward looks nowhere close to agreeing to a new contract with the Gunners which would leave the door open for the Blues to make a potential cut-price move.

Everton are in desperate need of an attacking midfielder who can play up top too and Nelson fits the mould for the kind of young and exciting talent that needs to be brought into the fold at Goodison.
Getting regular minutes and playing time in the Premier League seems to be the main desire for Nelson and this is something Sean Dyche and Everton could offer him.
He has three goals and two assists in just three substitute appearances in the top flight, stats that yet again prove he is ready to become an out-and-out starter for a Premier League club.
Nelson and a proper centre-forward being brought into the Dyche’s ranks would be a solid bit of business for the Blues this summer and it’s a transfer they need to consider.
