Everton: Moise Kean hit with two-match ban as multi-million exit ‘formally rubber stamped’

Juventus have signed Moise Kean from Everton on a permanent transfer for €28million (£25m), with the deal reportedly rubber-stamped last Tuesday, according to Liverpool ECHO.

Kean made a two-year loan move worth €7m (£6.2m) in the summer of 2021 and the deal included an obligation for the Italian club to make the permanent if certain sporting objectives were met by the close of the 2022-23 season.

Liverpool ECHO [7 March] understands that the deal to make the move permanent was “rubber stamped” last Tuesday, before the player was then sent off 40 seconds after coming off the bench as Juventus lost at Roma on Sunday.

His red card means the player has now been hit with a two-match ban [Romeo Agresti, 7 March] upon reports of him completing [The Athletic, 7 March] his permanent move to the Serie A giants.

War chest

The Toffees board will be delighted that they have been able to finally get Kean off their books.

The young forward struggled to make an impact after arriving at Goodison Park in 2019 and spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 18 goals in 40 matches across all competitions.

Everton

Kean has scored five goals in 23 Serie A appearances so far this season which more or less meant his permanent move to The Old Lady, but the Goodison Park will certainly be smiling all the way to the bank considering they have just received a healthy outlay for a player they no longer needed.

The Toffees have recouped big money so far this campaign, receiving £60m in selling Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur, £45m for Anthony Gordon who joined Newcastle United and now £25m for Kean, which means the club will be entering the summer window with a significant transfer war chest.

However, it could all lose plenty of significance should the club suffer relegation from the Premier League at the end of the season.
