Everton must get MSP Sports Capital investment over the line amid Farhad Moshiri mistakes – Sky Sports pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell is refusing to believe anything around Everton investment until contracts are finally signed after so many mistakes from Farhad Moshiri.
The embattled owner has presided over a period at the club that now sees it battling relegation for the second consecutive season, and fan protests against the board, but according to the Daily Mail on 7 March he is refusing to sell amid fears of government scrutiny into his relationship with Alisher Usmanov.
Instead MSP Sports Capital is now “expected” to assume a minority stake, despite 15 February Financial Times report of a Jahm Najafi-fronted bid for Tottenham, but after months of speculation about investment in the Toffees Sky Sports pundit Campbell now needs to see it to believe it.

He spoke exclusively to Goodison News and said: “I don’t know what’s going on whether he’s going to buy Spurs or what.
“At the end of the day it’s a negotiation. Until the signatures go on the contracts I don’t believe any of it.
“I don’t believe anything until people are signed and committed.
“So whatever Moshiri wants to do, whether he wants to bring some investment into the club, great. That’s fine.
“But the key is getting it over the line. That’s the key, that’s the tough part, because mistakes have been made.
“We can’t hide away from it with Everton being in this position again. It tells you that mistakes have been made at the football club.
“There has to be line drawn in the sand and it’s got to rectified.
“So until somebody comes in, puts the money down, and signs, that’s when I’ll believe it.”

At this point it almost feels like Moshiri is teasing the fans with a potential exit that he won’t go through with, when they would like nothing more than to see the back of him.
If he won’t go then at least the MSP Sports Capital minority stake should see some outside perspectives added to what has become a cosy situation on the Everton board and has led to endless poor decisions.
Mistakes certainly have been made to leave the club in its current lowly position, and new investment would appear to be a step in the right direction, although nothing can be taken for granted when it comes to the Toffees at the moment.
