Ryan Mason likely to be in charge of Tottenham Hotspur v Everton with Antonio Conte set for sack

Ryan Mason is reportedly the most likely option to be in charge of Tottenham Hotspur for the game against Everton on 3 April.

According to The Telegraph [20 March], Spurs are expected to finalise the sack of Antonio Conte this week with his future now looking untenable.

Mason will be put in temporary charge perhaps until the end of the season, but will be taking over the reins of the first team at Goodison Park.

New manager bounce?

Everton are on the back of an impressive 2-2 draw against Chelsea and have entered the international break outside the relegation zone.

Sean Dyche would have begun planning for the Spurs game but may have to alter a few things now that Conte will not be in charge.

Mason tends to favour a much different system than the Italian and it could be a return to the back four – a formation in which Spurs have played their best brand of football.

There’s also the danger of a new manager bounce and although Mason’s been at the club as a coach, it’s not he who’s been picking the team.

The players may look to play with a newfound freedom now that Conte is not in charge and it could be a tougher game for the Toffees.

Spurs have everything to play for this season as they’re still looking to finish in the top four and a game against Everton is one they would want three points from.

It’s going to be an interesting encounter and it remains to be seen which Spurs side shows up.
