Everton loanee Jarrad Branthwaite suffers thigh injury, set to miss international games

Everton loanee Jarrad Branthwaite has reportedly decided to sit out the England under-21s games this international break.

According to Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink, the 20-year-old has consulted with PSV’s medical staff after suffering a thigh injury.

While it does not appear to be a serious one, he will not be risking it and has decided to stay in Eindhoven itself.

Elfrink wrote on Twitter, “Jarrad Branthwaite has decided in good consultation with the medical staff of PSV to stay in Eindhoven. It appears to be a sprain of a thigh muscle. Doesn’t look very serious now, but no England youth games for him.”

Right move

The 20-year-old has been phenomenal on loan at PSV this season and the best thing he can do for his development is play as many games as possible at a senior level.

The competition in under-21s is nothing compared to what he faces week in and week out in the Eredivisie.

Thankfully, it’s not a serious injury so he will be expected in action as soon as the international break is over.

Everton

In a way, it’s come at the right time as he’ll not miss any professional games and also get a much-needed rest ahead of the business end of the campaign.

We’re hoping that Branthwaite commits his future to the club as he could be an important part of the team next season, given the current defensive crisis.

He’s been wanted by Manchester United and Liverpool and it will be shameful if Everton fail to retain the services of one of their most promising players.
