Dele Alli to watch rest of season from stands as Everton loanee caught up in ‘bizarre’ drama

Loaned-out Everton flop Dele Alli has been told he’ll watch the rest of the season from the stands at Besiktas, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Thursday (23 March, page 79) that Alli, 26, has been caught up in a “bizarre” drama on loan at Besiktas, where manager Senol Gunes claims the midfielder has gone AWOL.

It is understood that Alli’s representatives deny this, saying that the ex-Tottenham player has been given permission by Besiktas to travel to London for a doctor’s appointment.

Alli took to his personal Instagram account on Wednesday (22 March) to also deny Gunes’ claim.

From bad to worse

Alli’s not only sunk at Tottenham and England, flopped at Everton and struggled to get game-time at Besiktas, he’s now being accused of going AWOL by his on-loan manager.

It’s a very strange turn of events.

Alli was spotted on Kim Kardashian’s Instagram story last week [Daily Mail] after the celebrity visited London and attended Arsenal’s Europa League loss to Sporting CP.

That suggests Alli has been away from Turkey since at least last Friday so if he’s in the UK for a doctor’s appointment, why is he still here almost a week later?

Everton

Gunes hasn’t just accused Alli of going AWOL either, it looks as though he’s been trying to contact the Everton loanee but he’s not been picking up calls.

It’s a situation that doesn’t look as though it can be resolved, to be honest, and based on how Alli’s career has spiralled in recent seasons, all of this could be down to him no matter what he or his representatives say in the media.

Alli’s got a lot of thinking to do in the coming months.

He’s got absolutely no future at Everton if he’s not going to take his loan spell at Besiktas seriously and it’s hard to see how any club will want him in a major European league going forward

At the age of 26, he shouldn’t be heading off the the USA or the Middle East but it’s looking as though they are likely options for the former England star.
