Samuel Chukwueze transfer dilemma at Villarreal after Everton transfer links in 2022

Samuel Chukwueze faces a transfer dilemma at Villarreal this summer, with Everton having shown an interest in the Nigerian winger last year, according to AS.

The Toffees were chasing the forward’s signature last summer, with that interest set to be reignited at the end of the season, with the winger set to become available.

Chukwueze has been in superb form for Villarreal this season, with the 23-year-old boasting tallies of 11 goals and 11 assists.

“It cannot be denied that the arrival of [Quique] Setien has suited the player perfectly, since with Unai Emery he had lost minutes and presence,” as reported by AS. “What’s more, he had even been close to leaving the club this past summer, in which an interest from Everton gave rise to this possibility.

“Now, Chukwueze happens to be one of the great assets of the squad and one of the players with the most projection. At 23 years old and at this competitive level, this could be a busy summer regarding his possible future.

“That is where the dilemma for Villarreal lies, since the player ends his contract next season, which forces him to seek a renewal or a way out if an offer of interest arrives.”

Attacking talent needed

Everton manager Sean Dyche will unquestionably be looking to add attacking reinforcements to his squad this summer, with the Toffees among the Premier League’s lowest-scoring teams this season.

Much of the blame in that area can be placed on Dyche’s predecessor Frank Lampard, with the current boss already seeing plenty of goals fly in during his brief spell in charge at Goodison Park.

But that will not stop him from delving into the market this summer, with Villarreal star Chukwueze certainly a strong candidate to help improve creativity.

AS reports that it will take at least £13.2million to bring the Nigerian to England, which won’t be an issue for the Toffees.

Everton scouts may just have one eye on Nigeria’s upcoming matches, with the nation set to take on Guinea-Bissau twice in quick succession.

Lyon’s Moussa Dembele has also been recently linked with the Toffees, with the Premier League club in for a very exciting campaign next season should they land both him and Chukwueze.

Staying in the division is, of course, paramount to landing two such high-profile players this summer.
