Everton: Jordan Pickford sends ‘unbelievable’ message to Harry Kane after England record smashed
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has hailed Harry Kane as “unbelievable” as he became England’s record goalscorer on Thursday night.
Gareth Southgate’s side started their Euro 2024 qualifying in perfect fashion by beating Italy 2-1 in Naples.
Declan Rice opened the scoring for the Three Lions before Kane’s penalty in the 44th minute saw him surpass Wayne Rooney as England’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Pickford did concede in the second half when he couldn’t do much about Mateo Retegui’s effort but the Blues shot-stopper was still delighted with the win.
Writing via his personal Instagram account late on Thursday night (24 March), Pickford said: “Great start to the qualifiers!
“Congrats Harry Kane on becoming England’s all-time top scorer.
“Unbelievable, mate.”

History-maker
Kane’s goalscoring record for England isn’t going to impress some.
Sure, he’s now his country’s leading scorer but when loads of those goals have come against San Marino, Bulgaria, Malta and Panama, there are going to be haters.
However, you can only score against who you’re drawn to play, at the end of the day, and Kane’s four goals against Germany and three goals against France aren’t things that should be ignored.
It’s just the way international football is these days.
Kane will continue to build on his record because England will continue to play minnows of European football.
Unless UEFA changes the qualifying so that teams like San Marino and Andorra have to earn the right to play against top teams like England and France, strikers across the continent will continue to smash their nation’s historic records.
Pickford is 29 years old and has 51 caps to his name after the win over Italy on 23 March.
He’ll no doubt add a lot more than that in the coming years, especially if he continues to do as well as he does for the Toffees.
