Everton unveil new development on ‘spectacular’ Bramley-Moore Dock section

Everton have unveiled a “major” new feature which will run the length of the south stand at their new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.

The Blues confirmed (Everton’s official website, 24 March) plans for the “Everton Way” to be paved into the walkway behind the “spectacular” stand.

The stones behind the stand will be engraved with the Toffees’ identity, history and players who have previously represented the club.

Evertonians can purchase individual stones that can be personalised with names, births, marriages and loved ones – allowing fans to be part of the club’s new home.

Initiative

This is an excellent initiative by the club’s board. It has given the fans the chance to be a part of the new stadium and it’s something many will get behind.

In recent days, more news has emerged of historical aspects of the club being retained within the new stadium. An old building near the site is being restored to retain Everton’s iconic Prince Rupert’s Tower, currently situated on Everton Brow.

Modern stadia can often be too high-tech and lose the important aspects of a club’s historical values. Goodison Park is amongst the most historical and atmospheric grounds in the UK and it would be a crying shame if that charm was lost when the club do say goodbye to its ancestral home.

It will be a sad day when the move eventually does occur, but for the club’s long-term ambitions, it’s a move they simply have to make. Exciting times could be around the corner.
