Finance Expert reacts as Government sources speak out on potential Everton takeover
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Dan Plumley has insisted that multiple factors are on the table at Everton as the Government watch closely over any potential full takeover of the club.
The Daily Mail reported on March 7 that Government sources have confirmed that they are monitoring any possible sale of the club, with interest heightened by the independent regulator.
Links to Alisher Usmanov have Farhad Moshiri scrambling it seems, with Plumley admitting that other factors such as Premier League status and finances are also factors to consider.

“It’s another factor to throw into the mix,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“There are two things I would say on the regulator link to that, if it comes to pass on the way it is documented right now, you’ve got challenges with the ownership structure side of it.
“One is, it would take a more in-depth look at people coming in, but you’ve also got the challenge of, you can’t get the original owners out, that’s not part of the regulation.
“If you’re looking at that being someone like Moshiri who is already in and a reluctance to sell because you may not get back in at various points, so that’s going to be in the background as well and it will be impacting what’s going on.

“It’s not just one single factor, it’s multiple factors, it’s the finances, the stadium, the investment that is on the table, it’s Moshiri’s objectives and motives, it’s Premier League status.
“We have to look at everything there when talking about a takeover. Anyone coming in is going to have to unpick all of that as well.”
Everton fans are fed up of this, with each day seeming to bring yet another negative story.
Moshiri is at the heart of most of them and the protests for him to move on are growing with each passing week, but with this latest news, that unfortunately looks very unlikely for now.
