Ian Wright delivers verdict on Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure and Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane
Ian Wright believes that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane made the right call to hit the deck during the 1-1 draw against Everton on Monday.
Abdoulaye Doucoure raised his hands and touched Kane’s face which saw the England captain theatrically fall to the ground.
This controversy caught the attention of the officials and they decided to send off the Toffees midfielder.

Speaking on Wrighty’s House at 30:55, Wright said, “We’ve got to talk about Harry Kane’s incident [Everton] and if he goes to Manchester United in the summer, the hate will ramp up.
“I saw it [the incident] and said, ‘Oh okay. He’s going to get some stick for this. Doucoure put his hands and it’s a red.
“There is a time lapse before he goes down but I don’t see a problem with it. If he just did that to Harry Kane’s face and he didn’t go down, would he have got sent off?”
Play-acting
It’s not like Doucoure was looking to endanger Kane’s safety and it was something that happened in the heat of the moment.
Players swing their hands around all the time and there wasn’t any malice in it but the Spurs striker’s reaction made it look worse than it was.
He committed two challenges worthy of a yellow card each before this happened and he should’ve got himself sent off too.

Sean Dyche was blase about this because Michael Keane scored an equaliser and he certainly would’ve taken a draw ahead of kick-off.
Doucoure was in the wrong and that’s for sure, but if Kane stays up as he should’ve, given that there was no force behind his action, then perhaps the officials look at it more leniently.
Everton certainly deserved something from that game and they got it and they now look to be on course to securing Premier League status next season, based on the Super Computer.
