Mark Lawrenson predicts result Everton v Manchester United Premier League clash

Mark Lawrenson has made his prediction ahead of the Premier League clash between Everton and Manchester United this weekend (8 April).

The Toffees claimed a hard-fought draw against Tottenham on Monday (3 April) but now head to Old Trafford for a clash with the Champions League chasing side, who beat us at Goodison earlier this season.

But despite the recent good form seeing Sean Dyche’s side go five games unbeaten recently, Lawrenson told Paddy Power (6 April) he is expecting the hosts to claim the win but is still backing Everton to avoid the drop.

“It was another good result for Everton on Monday night against Spurs but I’m going for Manchester United to win this,” he said.

“They were good enough against Brentford in the week, even if a 1-0 doesn’t sound that impressive, but generally they were quite comfortable and they’ve got over the Newcastle loss.

“Everton will stay up because they’ve got so much fight about them – just ask Harry Kane! Manchester United 2-0 Everton.”

Positivity

Obviously Mark Lawrenson doesn’t think we’ll get a result at Old Trafford. It’s not like we’re unbeaten in our last four visits there in the league.

United have played well recently but it’s clear to everyone that there is a way to get at them and make things difficult for them, and that is something that Sean Dyche has done brilliantly since coming into the club.

We’re aggressive, we press well, we’re hard to beat and we also pose a threat going forward at set pieces and also on the counter attack. Obviously though we’re weakened by our absences for the game.

There is certainly a possibility that we can go there and frustrate them and come away with a result, but a defeat is something that everyone will be expecting outside of this club.

We have to go there with a positive attitude and belief we can beat them or at the very least get a draw, and move away from the relegation zone in a busy weekend of football.
