Everton transfer update as Sean Dyche backed to spend by Sky Sports pundit amid £24.6million news
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Sean Dyche has been backed by Kevin Campbell to be “active” in his first Everton transfer window regardless of the boost of cash from selling Moise Kean.
The Italian striker’s permanent return to Juventus, where he had been on loan for the past two seasons, was triggered on 1 March [Alan Myers, 7 March] and the club are in line to receive €28million [£24.6million] at the end of the campaign when it is rubbed-stamped according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter (31 March).
But Sky Sports pundit Campbell doesn’t see the money as the difference-maker and believes the Toffees boss is going to need to make moves regardless because of the need to improve a struggling squad.

Campbell spoke exclusively to Goodison News about the transfer prospects after Kean’s sale and said: “At the end of the day we’ve seen it happen that [the problem is] you’ve got to attract the players.
“And if we are honest €28million isn’t a lot of money when you’re talking about forwards.
“Everton are going to have to be active in the summer because they don’t want to be going through another season like they have.
“Sean Dyche, it’s going to be his first window where he actually gets a chance to spend properly.
“So I expect them to be active whether the Moise Kean deal [had] happened or not.”

On the face of things it is hard to argue with Campbell’s assessment that Dyche is going to need to be supported in the market to improve a squad that has clear holes.
The cash from Kean’s exit, plus £45million on the books for Anthony Gordon’s departure to Newcastle in the January window [Sky Sports, 29 January] surely gives the ex-Burnley boss much-needed room to manoeuvre.
But with the Premier League charge that is now hanging over the club as a result of the infamous latest set of accounts, there is as ever a caveat that will heave fans fearing disappointment yet again.
