Everton investment news with Bill Kenwright under threat amid Farhad Moshiri move

Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett-Baxendale’s positions at Everton are under threat, but they have been given a reprieve for the time being by Farhad Moshiri, the Daily Mail reports.

The pair of deeply unpopular board members have been subject of fan protests for months, and now the Toffees owner is reportedly thinking of a shake up to the executive committee, but has put plans on hold until outside investment in the club is sorted.

The majority shareholder believes the offer of seats on the board could increase the attractiveness of acquiring a minority stake in Everton and will hold off making a change for now..

The Daily Mail reported on Saturday (8 April): “Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has delayed plans to shake up his executive team at Goodison Park in the hope that external investors could be attracted by the prospect of a seat on the board.

“The Iranian businessman was considering making changes given the club’s financial and footballing difficulties, with the positions of chairman Bill Kenwright and chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale thought to be under threat, but that will be put on hold until the process of bringing in investors has concluded.”

Delays

The club needs money and new people making decisions, but the prospect of either forever seems to be just out of reach.

Kenwright has become a figure of derision among the fanbase above even Moshiri in light of the endless issues behind the scenes and the struggles on the pitch over the past two seasons.

MSP Sports Capital have been on the brink of completing a deal for months now, but still that has yet to be concluded, while an outright sale of the club now appears to be off the table again.

Sean Dyche and the players are doing their best to keep Premier League status, without which surely the club diminishes as an investment prospect hugely, despite the disappointing defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

But the proposed shake up behind the scenes can’t come soon enough as the decision-makers have led the club into difficulty time and time again.

It looks like the manager is going to have to drag his players over the line to top flight safety before any of the necessary change happens, but if even Moshiri is thinking of moving Kenwright and Barrett-Baxendale on perhaps the long-heard calls of ‘Sack the board’ will be partially answered.
