Everton transfer news as Atletico Madrid enter frame for £60million summer Amadou Onana deal with Chelsea and Arsenal
Amadou Onana “could already be set to move away from Everton” after just one season with Atletico Madrid now in the picture for a summer move, Ben Jacobs reports.
Chelsea and Arsenal were both after the midfielder in the January transfer window but were turned down by the 21-year-old at the time, while Newcastle are also on the lookout for a player of his profile.
The London sides are primarily focused on Declan Rice this summer according to CBS journalist Jacobs, but remain in the frame and now La Liga giants Atletico have emerged as a potential destination.

Everton look likely to almost double their money for the former Lille player after he arrived for £33million ahead of the current season, with the club requiring more sales in light of their perilous financial position and an offer of at least £60million could be enough.
In his latest takeover of Fabrizio Romano’s Substack for Caught Offside Jacobs reports that the Belgian’s dream is the Premier League so overseas clubs may struggle, but Atletico could be “one to watch” alongside the three Premier League teams.
Powerless
Everton fans have been here before so even if the Spanish side can’t offer Onana his preferred division and the English clubs are currently looking elsewhere it won’t make it any less concerning that the club could lose yet another star.
It has happened so often over the years, and in the past 12 months Richarlison has been packed off to Tottenham for £60million and Anthony Gordon to Newcastle for £45million.
And yet still the club have to look for ways to make money from a squad that needs additions not exits, so if there is another £60million-plus on offer for their young midfield star it would be no surprise to see him sold too.

It truly is one thing after another for the long-suffering supporters of this club, and while there remains the possibility that Sean Dyche keeps Everton in the Premier League and Onana again turns down interest from Champions League clubs, it is perhaps now an outside chance.
The team’s form has dipped, with the Belgian international’s injury absence contributing, so staying up is very much not a given.
And even if they do only one side can sign Rice, so those who miss out will necessarily be looking elsewhere and if one or more come calling to Goodison Park the fanbase know how this tends to go by now.
