Farhad Moshiri hopes to sell minority stake and secure Everton investment in close season

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is hopeful of selling a minority stake in the club and securing investment for the new stadium at the end of the season.

The Toffees are battling against relegation and suffering with financial problems, leading to Moshiri looking to bring in outside investment to help with the build of the brand new Bramley Moore Dock Stadium.

And a report from iNews (17 April) claims the hope is that both the sale and investment can be sealed once the season comes to an end, with both MSP Capital Partners and 777 Partners interested even if Everton end up in the Championship.

“Owner Farhad Moshiri is currently seeking to sell a minority stake in the club as well as secure investment in the club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock and despite another campaign of turmoil i understands there is hope both can be concluded during the off season,” they wrote.

“New York-based investment firm MSP Capital Partners remain in talks with owner Moshiri while Miami-based 777 Partners, whose football portfolio includes Sevilla, Vasco de Gama and Standard Liege, have also held discussions with the club and retain a ‘serious interest’.

“It is understood that both groups are interested in investing even if the club are relegated to the Championship but Moshiri would likely have to accept a reduced price if that were the case.”

Needed sooner

Everton need their investment as soon as possible, but not because we need the money any quicker.

While that would obviously help, the main reason is because fans would immediately have a boost in morale at the fact Moshiri is losing power at the club.

Everton are planning to move from Goodison Park to their new stadium by 2025.

He needs to go as soon as possible and while investment and a minority stake is a good start, the quicker he makes a full sale and is out of there completely the better.

The fact both parties are interested in doing a deal even if Everton end up in the Championship is positive too, although obviously a scenario that we want to avoid because we’re a Premier League side.

Get them in and get Moshiri, Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett-Baxendale out of this football club as quickly as possible. We’ll all be better for it and hopefully it can help to turn performances around on the pitch before it’s too late.
