Everton ‘worst-case scenario’ on the cards, they may have to sell Bramley-Moore Dock stadium – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...

Dan Plumley has insisted it would be the “worst, worst-case scenario” if Everton were forced to sell their new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium after completion.

Ian Herbert of the Daily Mail has recently reported that the Toffees may be forced to sell the new stadium and become tenants should they be relegated from the Premier League.

Plumley shared that it shows the gravity of the situation that Everton and Farhad Moshiri find themselves in financially with relegation catastrophic.

“It shows the gravity of the situation that they are in that this is actually being talked about as an option,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“When you build a new stadium, you absolutely don’t want to be in a position where you have to sell it to raise cash. If that happens, hopefully, that doesn’t happen for the club, but if it does, you’re talking about the worst, worst-case scenario.

“You absolutely don’t want to be in that position as a club, you need to own your own ground.”

Everton are planning to move from Goodison Park to their new stadium by 2025.

With funding now imminent for the completion of the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium, it appears as though that wasn’t the only worry for Moshiri and Everton.

Dropping into the Championship would nearly destroy the club with players lacking relegation clauses and the revenue lost instantly overnight also a big worry.

Sean Dacha has the pressure of the world on his shoulders already, let’s hope that he can turn the sinking ship around before it becomes too late.
