777 Partners go past MSP Sports Capital to take Everton from hands of Farhad Moshiri in takeover update

777 Partners appear to have left MSP Sports Capital in the dust with their bid to takeover Everton, according to a report in Italy from TuttoMercatoWeb.

The American company is involved in Serie B with their ownership of Genoa, as well as a controlling stake in Hertha Berlin of the Bundesliga, amongst other football interests.

Talks are said to have intensified over recent days with the goal of wrestling the club from the hands of current owner, Farhad Moshiri.

This very interesting update comes at a time of increasing uncertainty on the pitch, set against backdrop of protests from the fans amid instability in the boardroom.

“The holding company that owns Genoa has intensified contacts in recent days for the acquisition of Everton from the hands of Farhad Moshiri.”

“Now 777 would have substantially surpassed MSP Sports Capital in the race for the Toffees and would be close to acquiring the Liverpool club, embroiled in the fight against relegation in the Championship.”

What about the timing

It is well known that all isn’t well off the pitch at Goodison, as has been well documented in recent times.

Struggles for the team in recent seasons have been directly related to the lack of stability at the club.

At present, Sean Dyche faces a significant task to retain Everton’s Premier League status which would have a direct influence on any takeover negotiations and ultimately, the price.

This emerging story will quickly be assessed to find out if there is another outcome to follow for the Evertonians, as well as the climax to the league season.

It comes just weeks after news of Moshiri’s £70million injection [Liverpool Echo] as well as the understanding that the British-Iranian businessman was working on bringing a minority investor into the club, with MSP Sports Capital widely tipped to seal a deal.

Everton are currently in the Premier League relegation zone, in 18th place, separated from Leicester City on goal difference, just one place below the Foxes.
