Everton could be saved from Bramley-Moore Dock stadium sale as billionaire takeover development emerges

Everton may not have to sell their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock thanks to the news that 777 Partners are reportedly close to a takeover of the Merseyside club.

Daily Mail columnist Ian Herbert reported on 4 April that if the Blues are relegated from the Premier League this season, one way for them to avoid sinking into financial oblivion would be to sell the £500million development at Bramley-Moore Dock.

It is understood that Everton would then have to strike a deal to become tenants at the stadium they’re building as that would, on a short-term basis, alleviate some of the financial stress that dropping into the Championship would cause.

Everton are planning to move from Goodison Park to their new stadium by 2025.

Of course, that’s a worst-case scenario that would only have to happen if a lot of things happen.

But it’s very much something that could happen under this board because the leadership of Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright has already brought a once-great English football club to it’s knees.

Luckily, Moshiri might not have a say in Eveton much longer.

Out of the blue, TuttoMercatoWeb editor Marco Conterio reported on Monday (24 April) that 777 Partners are now on the verge of buying Everton Football Club.

Talks with Moshiri are said to have intensified and the American firm is now “close” to becoming the new owner at Goodison Park.

It’s kind of hard to believe that this news has come out of Italy this week and nothing has really been said either in the UK or in the USA, where 777 are based.

777 Partners were founded in 2015 by Steven Pasko and Josh Wander, who own over £2.4billion ($3bn) in assets.

They’re rapidly buying into football clubs with Genoa, Herta Berlin, Standard Liege and Vasco da Gama already in their portfolio.

As per The Athletic on 17 February, 777 were considering investing in Eveton but based on this fresh update, the firm is way more interested in simply buying some shares. They’re after the majority of them, seemingly.

Whether you believe it or not, 777 taking control of Everton would force Moshiri – and potentially Kenwright – out of the way and that would no doubt lead to greater security going forward.

And that, in turn, could mean that the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium is safe.
