Everton want to sign ex Tottenham Hotspur ace Marcus Edwards who was likened to Lionel Messi by Mauricio Pochettino
Everton reportedly want to sign former Tottenham Hotspur attacker Marcus Edwards, who’s currently plying his trade at Sporting CP.
According to the Record [29 April], the English winger is also targeted by Wolves and has a £53million release clause that has left the Portuguese side worried about losing him.
Edwards was at Spurs when Mauricio Pochettino was the manager and he’s compared the left-footed attacker for PSG star and Barcelona legend Lionel Messi in 2016. [Sky Sports]

Still Messi-esque?
Edwards certainly has something special about him and he’s changed his playing style from his Spurs days.
He’s no longer the silky dribbler who likes to take on players for fun and now has become more of a goal threat for Sporting.
He’s ideal for a side that likes to keep possession but can also be used as a vital weapon on the break given his pace and ability to leave players for dead.

However, his transfer price appears to be a tad steep and it remains to be seen if Everton can bring it down but given the interest in his services, that seems unlikely.
They seem to be better off going for someone like Samuel Chukwueze who is now available at a discount and the Toffees appear to be keen on bringing him to Goodison Park this summer.
