A full takeover at Everton has not been ruled out, with a BBC Sport source suggesting that “anything could be on the table” in this regard.
Conversations regarding financing for the club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock have reportedly taken place with both MSP Sports Capital and 777 Partners.
Parties are expected to meet for discussions on the matter in the near future, with senior figures from MSP having visited the club at the beginning of the year.
“A full takeover has not been ruled out with sources suggesting ‘anything could be on the table’ if talks progress when parties sit down for discussions,” according to BBC Sport.
“Senior figures from MSP, including Iranian-American billionaire chairman Jahm Najafi, attended Everton’s 2-1 home defeat by Southampton on 14 January and it is understood they will likely expect representation in the boardroom if they do invest in the club.”
Investment needed
Investment at any level is seemingly desperately needed at Everton, with the Toffees involved in constant financial struggles lately.
An alleged breach of fair play rules and losses for a fifth successive year are the latest in a long line of lingering financial issues at the Merseyside outfit, with fans simply wanting some stability behind the scenes in order to get the club back to where they belong.
A full takeover would, of course, represent the best news for Everton fans, but only investment at this stage would still be welcomed with open arms.
The current Everton hierarchy are well aware of the issues the club is currently facing, and if they really do care about its future, they will take immediate and real action sooner rather than later.
