Everton to break Championship record in event of relegation amid £312m reveal – Finance Expert

Everton and Leicester City will break the Championship record if they end up getting relegated from the Premier League, claims Kieran Maguire.

The football finance expert took to Twitter to share the wage bills and squad costs of all 20 teams in the English top flight.

It’s been revealed that the Toffees’ squad is worth £312million and in the event of relegation, they’re going to have the most expensive squad and also the largest wage bill.

Via Twitter, Maguire wrote, “If Leicester and/or Everton are relegated it would be with the highest wage bills and squad costs in Championship history.”

Shambolic

Everton have just thrown money in the past on players that do not deserve it and it’s pretty clear that there’s chaos behind the scenes.

Marcel Brands is to be blamed for a lot of the mess but the buck does eventually stop with Farhad Moshiri who’s driven this team closer to relegation than ever before.

Going back to the Championship will be catastrophic but it’s something that this side appears to be on the course of unless there are miracles in the next few weeks.

How they will deal with FFP in the second tier remains to be seen, but a lot of their top-earning players are very likely to be shown the door.

It gives the chance for a rebuild and new beginnings before they move into the stadium because things are unlikely to improve even if they manage to stay up.

Sean Dyche may not be fighting for his job, but if he fails to keep them up, there’s no reason why the club should retain his services in the Championship.

Dealing with Seamus Coleman’s absence is also going to be hard and it remains to be seen who ends up replacing him.
