Paul Merson predicts result of Everton clash v Brighton

Paul Merson has predicted Everton to suffer another defeat when they visit the Amex Stadium on Monday, 5 May, to play Brighton.

The Toffees put in a good performance against Leicester City recently to get a 2-2 draw but he does not see that carrying them over the line.

Brighton are chasing European football while Everton battle relegation so both teams have something to play for in the final weeks of the season.

Everton

Merson told Sportskeeda, “Everton played their best football of the season against Leicester City last weekend. They will have to have a go once again this weekend, but I fancy Brighton to get all three points as they are clearly the better team. They have a chance of getting into Europe and are in the thick of things after their impressive 1-0 win against Manchester United.

“Alexis Mac Allister is a player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks. I can’t see the Argentine midfielder staying at Brighton beyond the current season, but I still feel Kaoru Mitoma could remain at the Amex Stadium for another year, at least. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a fantastic player and is very nice to watch, but I still can’t see teams paying top dollar for him. Not yet, at least.

“Prediction: Brighton 2-0 Everton.”

Tough one

De Zerbi has got this Brighton side playing some wonderful football and it’s not going to be easy for the Toffees to counter.

Dyche sets his teams up to play on the break but as seen in the game against Manchester United, the Seagulls do not leave too many spaces to exploit.

He may have to remove the shackles of his players and ensure that they play further up the field and try to win the ball as high as possible.

It’s still not going to be an easy game and a draw is perhaps the best result he can expect from this match and he’ll surely take it ahead of kick off.

Dyche needs to finally axe Michael Keane and there’s a good chance of him doing it and still having a side that can go toe-to-toe with the Seagulls.

It remains to be seen whether or not Conor Coady comes because the former Manchester United defender has been a defensive liability for Everton.
