Simon Jordan sends Farhad Moshiri message live on talkSPORT over Everton developments
Simon Jordan believes Farhad Moshiri must take a backseat at Everton if they maintain their Premier League status after spending £750million on transfers and leading the club into “financial meltdown”.
The Toffees eased their relegation fears on Monday night (8 May) with a superb 5-1 victory over Brighton on the south coast, which left them two points clear of the relegation zone with three games to play.
When asked live on talkSPORT by Jim White (9 May) what plans the Toffees could put in place to rise the Premier League standings, Jordan insisted that Moshiri needed to take a step back and the club needed to ring the changes in the boardroom.

“The third thing is to get Moshiri as far away from the football side of things as possible,” he said. [White & Jordan, talkSPORT]
“If I had spent £750million on players for a side that are in absolute free fall, financial meltdown, sitting at the bottom of the table two season’s in a row.
“For a football club the size of Everton, whose neighbours are constantly doing better and sneering at them, I think I would say to myself, ‘maybe it’s better for me to take a backseat, put some people in place that are capable, look at changing up the board’, no disrespect to Denise and Bill, and look at the calibre of people and where they are in the great scheme of things.
“Try and get this club back on the right track.”
Bang on the point
If Everton do manage to escape the clutches of relegation this term, it isn’t down to Moshiri but instead the brilliant work of Sean Dyche since he was given the reins in the Goodison Park dugout.
After spending £750million on transfers under the Iranian-born businessman, the Toffees have gone nowhere but backwards.
However, when Everton and Dyche really needed backing in the January transfer window, the owner was nowhere to be seen, with the club selling their prized asset, Anthony Gordon, to Newcastle and failing to replace him with a single incoming.
The interview Moshiri did with talkSPORT before the New Year, in which he stated he had only ever delivered on the wishes of Everton fans really was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Ever since then, the 67-year-old has been fighting a losing battle, with protests against him and the rest of the board a common sight outside Goodison Park on match days.
Investment in the club can’t come soon enough, and hopefully with a bit of luck, Moshiri might be tempted to part ways with the club altogether.
