Everton ace Nathan Patterson in ‘cruiserweight boxer threshold’ after weight gain at Finch Farm
Everton defender Nathan Patterson has put on over five kilograms since moving to the club, according to the official Everton website.
The Scotland international joined the Toffees from Rangers on a five-and-a-half-year deal in January 2022.
Aged just 21, the youngster has been working hard off the pitch in order to deal with the physicality of the Premier League.

“Work that has gone into adapting to professional life south of the border has been thorough – and ongoing,” according to the official Everton website.
“Patterson’s frame has changed significantly after putting on more than five kilograms of mass since joining Everton 16 months ago.
“He remains tall, athletic and quick, though, despite creeping into a cruiserweight boxer threshold at 80kg.”

Patterson shining brightly
Patterson perhaps hasn’t hit the heights many expected of him since his switch from Scottish giants Rangers, with the defender limited to just 17 Premier League appearances this season.
He was definitely bought with the long-term future in mind, but the youngster has impressed when handed opportunities on the pitch, particularly in recent weeks amid the absence of first choice right-back Seamus Coleman.
Patterson’s lack of physicality was perhaps part of the reason why he couldn’t land a regular first team place in his early stages at the club, but that lack of physicality is understandable given his age.
He has clearly been working behind the scenes to improve in this area, with this side of the game very important for a full-back in the Premier League.
While it will still take some time to reach the standard needed to constantly shine at this level, Patterson has already proven that he is a more than able deputy for Coleman, with the young defender putting in a top class display in the 5-1 win against Brighton on Monday (8 May).
