Injury expert shares Manchester City update ahead of Premier League clash v Everton

Manchester City could be without one first-team player for their Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park, according to injury expert, Ben Dinnery.

Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Merseyside on Sunday looking to tighten their grip on the Premier League title after a closely contested battle with Arsenal.

According to Dinnery (Premier injuries), Nathan Ake has a “25 per cent” chance of playing on Sunday afternoon after sustaining a hamstring strain.

Sean Dyche’s men head into the clash in good recent form after the Toffees produced their best performance of the 2022/23 season during the 5-1 win over Brighton at the Amex.

Real chance

Everton now have a genuine chance of survival. The recent win over Brighton has completely changed the mood around Goodison Park. Realistically, who expected that result? Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucouré and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were unplayable on the South Coast.

If those three players can produce something similar at the weekend then Everton could upset the apple cart. City will obviously be the favourites and that should come as no surprise. Guardiola’s men are in fine form and beginning to play their best football at the perfect time.

One positive for Everton is that the Citizens have a huge Champions League clash against Real Madrid in the offing on Wednesday evening. Guardiola could well be inclined to rest some of his best players in a bid to ensure City reach their second Champions League final.

Another win between now and the end of the season could see Everton in a strong position to seal their Premier League status for the 2023/24 campaign.
