Confirmed Everton team news: Four players ruled out v Manchester City

Sean Dyche has delivered an Everton injury update ahead of the Toffees’ Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday.

Seamus Coleman is out for the season after undergoing surgery, however, Dyche confirmed in his most recent press conference (12 May) that the defender should be fit for the start of next season.

Andros Townsend is back on grass after stepping up his recovery from his long-term knee injury which has kept him out for the season, although he won’t feature at Goodison Park. Ruben Vinagre and Ben Godfrey are the other absentees at present.

Momentum

For the first time in a while, it feels as if there’s a bit of momentum coursing around Goodison Park. The performance against Brighton was mesmeric. It showed the fanbase what this team is capable of and that has given Everton a chance of securing their Premier League status.

Manchester City is somewhat of a free hit for Dyche. The Premier League champions head to Merseyside as huge favourites and they are expected to win. However, with Everton set to play Wolves and Bournemouth in their final two matches, their fate is somewhat in their hands.

Dyche will know two wins against their last two opponents will be enough to see the Toffees over the line and to safety. A positive and competitive performance is required against City, but it’s important not to look too far ahead. The Brighton display was a start, let’s hope it’s the platform for Everton to put a significant run of form together.
