Andy Gray makes Everton relegation prediction ahead of clash v Manchester City

Andy Gray has backed Everton to avoid relegation by picking up four points from their final three games of the season while live on BeIN Sports.

The Toffees sit outside the relegation zone after their 5-1 win over Brighton on Monday (8 May) with 32 points, but face Manchester City at Goodison Park next.

Despite that though Gray believes results elsewhere and the potential of a must-win game at home on the final day means his former side will stay up.

“Forest down, Everton survive, Leicester down, Leeds survive, and the Saints are gone,” he said.

Richard Keys then asked him if he had made those picks with his head or his heart, and Gray responded with his reasoning.

“No I’m looking at the fixtures.

“[Leicester have]Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham. I think they’re tough fixtures. I don’t see them getting more than one or two points out of that lot.

“[Everton] the last two games, although Wolves away won’t be easy, the home match should it be needed I think they get three points at Goodison. So I’m giving us four at least, and 36 should be enough.”

Momentum

The win over Brighton has not only brightened the mood at the club and within the fan base, but also built momentum heading into a super tough afternoon.

Had the team lost to Brighton as many people expected them to then they’d be coming into this game in the relegation zone, with zero hope or expectation of getting anything against a Man City side that are flying.

But now while that game is still expected to end in defeat for the Toffees according to many, the next two games look far more winnable based on recent showings.

If we’re able to get results against Wolves, who are safe and have little to play for, and Bournemouth at home who are in the same boat, then we should be safe considering the fixtures of those around us.

We have the quality in our squad to make it happen and we’ve shown we’re capable of putting in the performances. We just have to actually go and do it now.
