Everton heading for ‘landmark moment’ as Farhad Moshiri stadium development milestone emerges – Dave Powell

Everton are heading towards a “landmark moment” as they edge closer to moving to their new stadium, according to journalist Dave Powell.

The Toffees are currently building their new home at Bramley-Moore Dock, which will hopefully be ready in time for the 2024/25 season.

And owner Farhad Moshiri is now closing in on securing financial aid in order to help fund the rest of the project.

Everton are planning to move from Goodison Park to their new stadium by 2025.

“Moving into a new stadium next year will be a landmark moment for Everton Football Club,” Powell wrote for the Liverpool Echo.

“While the Blues continue to battle against relegation from the Premier League, the move from their home for the past 130 years, Goodison Park, to a new, state-of-the-art stadium on the banks of the River Mersey remains on track.

“Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is understood to be closing in on securing the final tranche of funding for the project, which is well past the halfway point now.”

Rare moment of excitement

It’s been largely doom and gloom for everyone associated with Everton this season, with the club facing major difficulties both on and off the pitch.

The constant background issues regarding financial problems and fan protests have proved to be a major distraction to matters on the pitch, leading to the Toffees being involved in a tense relegation battle for the majority of the season.

Moshiri is certain to be the centre of fan anger for many weeks and months to come, but he can certainly ease that frustration by securing much-needed funding for the new stadium, which has provided Everton supporters with a rare feeling of excitement this season.

The club remain heavily involved in the fight for safety, with the Toffees currently just one point outside the relegation zone with just two matches now remaining.

There is simply no telling what will happen on the pitch and behind the scenes this summer if the Merseyside outfit do end up dropping out of the Premier League.
