Stan Collymore shares Bill Kenwright Everton verdict, drops relegation prediction

Stan Collymore believes Everton will avoid relegation to the Championship due to their favourable fixtures during the run-in.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth are to come for Sean Dyche’s side before the 2022/23 season reaches its conclusion.

Writing in his latest column for The Sunday People, Collymore has suggested recent performances will take the flak off of Bill Kenwright.

“When I look at every team’s run-in, I do fancy them to stay up, just,” wrote Collymore (The Sunday People, pg 54, 14 May).

“Everton fans will be happy they are getting what they expect as a minimum from their players and coaches, and Bill Kenwright will be happy the flak isn’t flying as it has.”

Pressure on

We can assure you, Kenwright will be facing plenty of flak if Everton are relegated to the Championship come the end of the 2022/23 season. Everton’s fate is in their own hands. The fixtures against Wolves and Bournemouth are certainly appealing. Especially when you look at Nottingham Forest, Leicester and Leeds’ fixtures.

The Foxes face Liverpool on Monday (15 May), Forest have to play Arsenal and Leeds host Tottenham on the final day. There will be plenty of twists and turns before the season’s out, but there’s certainly a chance for the Toffees.

The Brighton win has brought a new lease of life around Goodison Park. Dyche’s side were completely dominant. There were a number of standout performances and the player should be confident of heading to the Black Country and picking up all three points against Julen Lopetegui’s side. The next couple of weeks are going to be defining for Kenwright and the board.
