Everton face nervous wait as Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury news emerges
Everton face a nervous wait to determine the outcome of scan results following the injury scare for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the loss to Manchester City, last Sunday according to an update in the Daily Star [16 May, Page 43].
The striker wanted to play on but manager Sean Dyche insisted that he had to come off, in order to protect his asset from further damage, ahead of the climax of the Premier League season.
Calvert-Lewin is an essential outlet upfront for the Toffees with the alternative option of Neal Maupay not inspiring confidence or any real impact.

The report from David Maddock indicates that the player has been assessed to check the extent of his concern.
“Everton boss Sean Dyche will wait nervously on scan results for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who felt a tight groin and was substituted at half-time against City.”

D-Day approaching
Two games remain for Everton to secure Premier League safety which will be a more difficult task without the services of Calvert-Lewin.
He does carry a goal threat, but his game is much more than that. He provides a focal point to the attack, running power, and an outlet for the collective team that is otherwise absent without him.
It will be an anxious few days ahead to discover the outcome of his situation for the conclusion of the season but hopefully, Dyche’s immediate decision to overrule his man at half-time last Sunday will prove to be a very shrewd call.
The manager has been in this situation before and given his relative impact already at Goodison, his direction and leadership can steer the club away from immediate trouble on the pitch and the perils of relegation to the Championship.
If that aim is achieved, it should allow for a much-needed reset and balancing of the squad for the new campaign.
