Gary Neville blasts ‘Poor’ James Tarkowski for what he did in Everton v Bournemouth, Rob Hawthorne shares Jordan Pickford reaction
Gary Neville was furious with James Tarkowski after he almost cost Everton with a big error during their clash with Bournemouth on Sunday (28 May).
The Toffees were level in the first half when Tarkowski was caught on the ball on the edge of his own box by David Brooks, only for Dominic Solanke’s strike to be blocked by Yerry Mina and sent out for a corner.
But after the miss, commentator Rob Hawthorn admitted live on Sky Sports (28 May, 17:15) that Pickford was “furious” before Neville blasted the former Burnley defender.

“Pickford is absolutely furious with Tarkowski there,” Hawthorne said.
“Tarkowski is waving his arms up in the air, he needs to go and thank his mate Yerry Mina,” Neville added.
“He’s so slow on the ball. His touch is poor and he just lends it Brooks to Solanke, who can’t get it out of his feet quickly enough and it just allows the defenders to get in front of him.”
Crazy
What a game of football that was. A true rollercoaster of a match, but it was Everton who came out on top once again.
Everton never looked like they were going to lose the game, as Bournemouth barely tested Jordan Pickford throughout, but that still didn’t make moments like this any less nervy.

Tarkowski has been one of the best players over the course of the season, and had it been his error that caused the team to be relegated it would have been a real travesty.
Mina showed his love for the club with his brilliant block and commitment despite the fact he’ll be leaving the club in a few weeks time, while Pickford showed his excellent leadership qualities by ensuring standards were kept high no matter what.
This season has been a shambles from start to finish, but we survived. Now we have to press reset and rebuild during the summer to ensure we’re nowhere near this position again next year.
