Simon Jordan blasts Everton fans for ‘Ridiculous’ sack the board chants, defends Bill Kenwright
Simon Jordan has leapt to the defence of Bill Kenwright and labelled Everton fans as “stupid” for their calls to sack the board while live on talkSPORT.
The Toffees narrowly avoided relegation for a second season in a row after claiming a 1-0 win over Bournemouth on the final day of the season, but fans were quick to call for the board to be removed once again after the final whistle.
But while speaking on talkSPORT (29 May, 10:23), Jordan said that notion is “ridiculous” and said all the blame for Everton’s issues should be at the feet of Farhad Moshiri and not the rest of the board.

“If there is no change of ownership then the fans are going to have to get on with the guy who is writing the cheques,” he said.
“This ridiculous notion of “sack the board”, well if you sack the board and the owner then who is going to write the cheques and pay people? Because ultimately with football clubs like Everton, there is a necessity for people to keep on putting money in to be able to meet the cash flow requirements at certain times that a football club needs.
“So to your point, I think there is a distinct possibility that the club will be sold anyway so this is a circle that will be squared in another fashion but I think you will find there is an alibi of a tacit acceptance that Moshiri is sort of the busy fool that has been allowed to make decisions that are the wrong way around.
“That’s why I constantly argue with Everton fans.
“It’s so stupid, because I know as a matter of fact that Moshiri has made the decisions. I know as a matter of fact that he’s the person that said ‘I want this manager’ or that manager.
“People will say you know as a matter of fact because Bill’s told you, or this person’s told you, but not withstanding that, there is no possibility – I’ve never, and I’ve met some very powerful people who are billionaires, I’ve never seen them allow someone to make a decision for them. They make their own decisions.

“So with that in mind to blame Kenwright and to blame those guys, the blame should be with Moshiri.
“But the one thing they can’t argue.. normally what you’ve got is ‘get out of our club because you won’t put your hand in your pocket’. He’s put his hand in his pocket too much.”
Sack the board
Everton fans aren’t stupid and know that obviously the owner can’t simply be sacked and a void left at the top of the club.
But it’s the easiest way to ensure that Moshiri knows he isn’t welcome at Goodison Park anymore as the owner of this club and he should look to sell on to someone who would put the best interests of the club first.
Kenwright is a boyhood Everton fan but has stood by and watched the club be driven into the ground in recent years since selling to him, and the rest of the board are complicit in that too, which is why they should all go.
Nobody is denying that Moshiri has put his money where his mouth is, but we need someone who knows what they’re actually doing to spend the money wisely. All that money has left us with FFP charges and a likely points deduction for next season.
There are so many bigger issues at the club right now than just what is happening on the pitch and the fans are being vocal to bring attention to it. Jordan should know better or shut his mouth and educate himself on the situation.
