Conor Coady thanks fans as he drops hint on Everton future at Goodison Park

Conor Coady has reflected on securing Premier League survival with Everton, and with it he appears to have dropped a hint on staying at Goodison Park, in a post on his Instagram account.

He was recalled to Sean Dyche’s side for the pivotal clash against Bournemouth on Sunday and reflected afterwards that the campaign had been the hardest that he had ever experienced.

The 30-year-old will now return to his parent club Wolves, amid uncertainty about the next step in his career, as he left the door open to staying on Merseyside.

The England international thanked the fans for their contribution on the last day of the season, with the hint that he wants to experience more at Everton.

“The hardest season of my life finished in the loudest atmosphere I’ve ever played in,” he said.

“Thank you Blues for pushing us through. Time to make sure this club is never in this position again.”

Response

Coady was largely overlooked by Dyche in recent months, with the manager preferring the duo of Michael Keane and James Tarkowski, who he worked with previously at Burnley.

To their credit, Coady as well as Yerry Mina came in from the cold to play their part in the Toffees’ survival.

Whilst the Colombian is set to depart, the application and response from Coady could yet see him retained by the boss.

His time on the bench appeared to suggest that Dyche didn’t fancy him, but it was a selection decision. The obvious stumbling block is the reported £4.5 million [Liverpool Echo] that it will cost to seal a permanent switch for the central defender, which is said to trigger a clause in his contract at Molineux.

Whatever comes next, Coady can be proud of the role that he played throughout the season. He was a regular under Frank Lampard then out of favour under Dyche but returned to make an important contribution in the final day decider with the clean sheet forming the base for the victory over Bournemouth.

He will be remembered fondly for that, alone.
