Everton make Conor Coady permanent transfer decision – Fabrizio Romano
Conor Coady will not join Everton permanently after the club decided against triggering their £4.5m option to buy, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Toffees signed the England international on a season-long loan deal from Wolves last summer and he was a regular in the side under Frank Lampard, before losing his place under Sean Dyche.
But while he started the final game of the season which helped the team retain their Premier League status, the club have decided against keeping him on for next season and he will return to Wolves.

“Everton will not trigger the clause to sign Conor Coady on a permanent deal from Wolves,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (1 June).
“Deal was available for £4.5million but Everton will not proceed. He will return to Wolves.”
Madness
It’s an absolutely mental decision from Everton not to keep Coady at the club in a deal that would be one of the bargains of the transfer window.
£4.5m in today’s market is absolute peanuts, especially for an international calibre defender with the leadership qualities he has and after the performances he put in.

The club had announced that his loan spell was done, but with Romano reporting that they won’t be visiting a permanent deal for the defender it seems like a huge opportunity missed.
Yerry Mina has already left, but Coady is still definitely a better option than Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and even Ben Godfrey in the middle so it’s baffling. There had been reports that his future was intertwined with that of returning loanee Jarrad Branthwaite, but there was room for both.
He’s obviously not quite Sean Dyche’s cup of tea and it could be that he didn’t want to stay to be a back-up option, but it feels like the wrong call and most fans agree on that.
