Everton plot £27m move for Roma striker Tammy Abraham

Everton are plotting a £27million move for Roma striker Tammy Abraham, according to Italian newspaper, Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Telegraph reported on 1 June that Roma will listen to offers for the 25-year-old, who has scored 36 goals during two seasons in Italy.

Gazzetta Dello Sport now reports in its print edition (pg 12, 4 June) that Everton planning a £27m raid for the striker.

However, it’s understood Roma don’t feel that the price is fair at present.

Exciting

Abraham will almost certainly move back to the Premier League at some point in the near future. His stint in Serie A has certainly been a success and now feels like the right moment for the 25-year-old to try and crack the top flight once again.

For Everton, he’s exactly what they need. He’s scored goals for fun in Italy and is at an age where he can kick on once again. If there’s a deal in the region on £30million to be done, the board should look to make the move. Neal Maupay, Ellis Simms and the injury-prone Dominic Calvert-Lewin are not the answer.

The Toffees desperately need a talismanic striker who is going to hit the back of the net regularly during the 2023/24 campaign. It’s an area that plagued Sean Dyche’s side throughout last season. Every successful Premier League side has a consistent goalscorer and it’s something that’s alluded Everton for far too long.

Dyche would be wise to start his summer shopping spree at the top end of the pitch. However, it remains to be seen just how much backing the former Burnley boss will have during the off-season.
