Sunderland rage as Everton target Amad Diallo and Jack Clarke
Everton have been linked with Amad Diallo and Jack Clarke – and this news will break the hearts of Sunderland fans.
The Northern Echo report that Everton are keen to sign the 20-year-old Manchester United winger, who enjoyed a fine loan spell at the Stadium of Light last season, scoring 14 times.
The Black Cats, Burnley and West Ham are also understood to be interested in the Ivorian. However, it’s hard to envisage a return to the North East. Surely he’s destined for a bottom-half Premier League side at the very least?

The Toffees are also interested in Sunderland’s jet-heeled winger, Clarke. According to Inews on 5 June an offer of £15million could tease the Mackems into some sort of negotiations. A number of Premier League clubs are monitoring the 22-year-old.
It’s unlikely, but the Championship side would be fairly disappointed to see the duo wearing another team’s jersey next season.

From Everton’s perspective, these are exactly the type of signings they need to be making. For too long, the Toffees have been shopping in the wrong market. Players who are long past their best on large contracts. There has to be a change of tact.
Clarke on a permanent deal would present long-term planning from the board, which is something we rarely see at Goodison Park. He could develop into an asset that could be sold at a later date.
As for Diallo, it’s hard to envisage a move early in the window. Manchester United could well be eager to take a look at the wide man before making a decision on his future.
