Burnley set £8.6m asking price for Wout Weghorst as Everton plot transfer move – Fabrizio Romano

Burnley have slapped an £8.6m asking price on Manchester United loanee Wout Weghorst as Everton plot a transfer move this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Toffees are interested in signing the Holland international as Sean Dyche looks to bolster his attacking options having secured survival on the final day of the Premier League season.

But after revealing interest from Spanish and German clubs in the striker also, Romano told his YouTube channel (7 June) that Burnley have set their price to allow him to leave permanently in the summer.

“Manchester United have no intention to proceed in negotiations to keep the player for next season,” he said.

“There are already some clubs including Everton, including some Spanish clubs, including German clubs so clubs are informed on the situation so lets see if Burnley will decide to keep the player.

“The price from what I understand will be about €10m (£8.6m) but there are no concrete talks for Manchester United to keep the player.”

Pricey

When Dyche signed Weghorst the first time around and took him to Burnley, they paid £12m which was in January 2022.

Since then he has managed just four goals in English football at both Burnley and Manchester United, with a move to Besiktas in the middle of that seeing him net nine times in six months.

Everton

He has just one year remaining on his contract at Turf Moor now and it’s quite obvious he isn’t in manager Vincent Kompany’s plans, so if they were able to get £8.6m for him now then it would be a massive surprise.

Everton would surely be able haggle the price down considering he isn’t wanted at his current club, and with the player having worked with Dyche before that could be a good selling point to get a deal done.

He wouldn’t be many people’s main target, but we need a striker or two and if Dyche wants him then he should be backed.
