Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent ‘definitely’ suit Everton moves amid transfer interest after Rangers exits – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are “definitely” suited to Everton and are the kind of players the club should “really want” to secure on free transfers, according to Kevin Campbell.

The Toffees have been credited with interest in the attacking duo, with TEAMtalk reporting on 4 April they were contemplating a move for the Colombian, before he sent speculation into overdrive after being spotted in his home country wearing an Everton shirt [via Karina Ruiz on TikTok] during the international break on 24 March.

English winger Kent has long been linked to a Premier League move, and TEAMtalk reported Everton talks on 20 May ahead of his and Morelos’ exit from Ibrox as their deals expired, which was confirmed three days later, and Campbell thinks both should be chased by Sean Dyche as a priority.

The Sky Sports pundit exclusively told Goodison News: “Definitely look at them, definitely. Morelos and Kent, two very good players, done really well for Rangers.

“Definitely I think they’d suit Everton in the way they play. Very good players.

“But the fact of the matter is if they’re on frees there’s going to be a lot of suitors for them.

“Morelos can score goals and be a handful up top, and Ryan Kent, creator, goalscorer etc. a threat.

“You really want to be trying to secure these guys, but as I say there’s going to be many suitors for them.

“I think Everton should be looking at that type of player for sure.”

Dyche is unlikely to have a huge budget to spend in the transfer market despite having a lot of work he needs to get done to improve a squad that has come within touching distance of relegation two seasons in a row.

Both players have their detractors but were undoubtedly key men at Ibrox during their respective times in Glasgow, with Morelos scoring a total of 124 goals for the club, and as Everton desperately need striker options he could be the kind of wrecking ball that thrives at Goodison.

With Anthony Gordon and now Andros Townsend gone, and Premier League sides now queuing up to poach Demarai Gray [Sky Sports, 10 June], the Toffees boss needs more out wide as well, and with a 56 Rangers assists to go with his 33 goals Kent is a low-cost target who is available.

Clearly the SPFL is not the Premier League, but both proved dangerous in Europe as well, including on the way to the Europa League final a year ago, so on free transfers it seems like an opportunity Everton could jump at.
