Everton handed ideal solution to goalkeeper issue with newly-relegated Leeds United ace Joel Robles

Everton have a lot to do in the summer transfer window, with manager Sean Dyche set to make big changes in order to avoid a similar campaign to the one that has just finished.

The Toffees have now been involved in back-to-back Premier League relegation battles, with the Merseyside outfit just about surviving on both occasions.

But plenty of pressure will now be on Dyche to ensure that doesn’t happen again, with new faces required on the pitch to ensure that isn’t the case next season.

The club have, however, now been linked with a familiar face, with newspaper journalist Alan Nixon reporting on his Patreon that the Toffees are chasing the signature of Leeds United goalkeeper Joel Robles.

The Spaniard spent five years at Goodison Park from 2013-2018, where he kept 25 clean sheets from 65 appearances, as per Transfermarkt.

He didn’t exactly have many chances to impress this season at Leeds, but he was the man trusted by Sam Allardyce in the latter stages of the campaign.

It didn’t work out in the end for the Whites, but Robles and Allardyce can hardly be to blame, with the duo impressing somewhat in their brief time in the limelight.

Robles can be picked up on a free having only committed to a one-year deal at Elland Road, while the Toffees are in the market for a shot-stopper amid the impending exit of veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Jordan Pickford is, of course, very much the number one at Everton, but that could change this summer, with the England international potentially making an exit in order to play a higher standard of football, primarily in Europe.

If Pickford does stay, Dyche has a suitable back-up in Robles, while the Spaniard may even be pushed into the number one spot if Pickford says farewell to the Toffees this summer.
