Simon Jordan savages Everton fans for ‘mob rule’ mentality live on talkSPORT after board resignations

Simon Jordan has slammed the Everton fanbase for their “mob rule” mentality that resulted in the resignations of several board members on Monday (12 June).

After months of toxicity at Goodison Park, the club shared a statement that three board members, including Denise Barrett-Baxendale, would leave their posts, while Bill Kenwright is set for talks with Farhad Moshiri regarding his position in the next 48 hours.

Speaking live on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan, the latter lashed out at the Toffees fanbase despite agreeing that the club had fallen into disarray under the board’s leadership.

“I’m not meriting the kind of treatment that the mob rule group of fans think they are able to be brought up with,” he said. [13 June, 10:25]

“Bloodletting comes when things are failing. It’s a fact of life and ultimately, Everton is a basket case, and it needs to be revived.

“It’s been buried, it’s been exhumed and it needs to get itself together.”

Everton had fallen into absolute disarray under this board and the overall leadership of Farhad Moshiri, and their positions were simply untenable heading into next season.

Even after surviving relegation on the last day of the season, the supporters chanted for the board to be sacked, so it was only a matter of time until this wish was granted.

However, the major thorn in the club’s side remains Moshiri, and if he continues, the protests are likely to follow.

Although 99% of the protests have been peaceful from the Toffees fanbase, the fact that the board couldn’t appear at home matches since the New Year suggests there were concerns for their safety.

This was far from a good look for the club and gives the slightest bit of merit to Jordan’s “mob rule” verdict.

However, to brand the whole club’s fanbase with this term was is a little unnecessary and a little inaccurate of the events that have actually passed in the last 12 months.
