Farhad Moshiri visits London as Bill Kenwright exit maybe delayed to give him Everton stage

Farhad Moshiri may have delayed the exit of Everton chairman Bill Kenwright to give him centre-stage at the point of his departure, according to The Esk.

The report (13 June) stated that the Iranian-born businessman had visited London on Tuesday (13 June), just a day after the club confirmed the departures of three high-level board members, including Chief Executive Officer Denise Barrett-Baxendale.

The Esk wrote: “In the meantime, urgently, the position of Chair has to be resolved.

“One suspects the reason for Bill Kenwright maintaining his position as Chairman for 48 hours longer is no more than an opportunity for him to have centre stage at the point of his departure, however if it is a last ditch effort to retain a role in the club after decades of failure, then Moshiri who is in London today, must do what should have been done seven years earlier and end his relationship with the club.”

Time for change

Kenwright’s position at Everton has come under increasing scrutiny in recent years, so it is no surprise that Moshiri is set to continue the sweeping change at the club.

After months and months of protests by the Toffees fanbase, it seems like their wishes are going to be granted with the departure of the 77-year-old. Whether he will get a fond farewell is yet to be seen.

However, it will be interesting to see whether the club’s demise continues even with a whole host of new board members in place.

As it stands, Moshiri has no plans to step down from his position on Merseyside, and this remains a huge problem moving forward. The club has never been this alienated from its fanbase, and Moshiri is the central figure who has caused all of this toxicity.

He is the man with his finger on the power button, and even with investment from MSP Sports Capital, the dreadful decisions could continue to plague Everton.
