Everton want to sign Alfredo Morelos as interest parties emerge amid Rangers contract expiry

Everton are interested in signing soon-to-be free agent Alfredo Morelos, according to Colombian journalist, Pipe Sierra.

Morelos’ contract at Ragners is believed to expire on 1 July which has led a number of clubs to show interest (WinSport journalist Sierra, Twitter, 15 June).

It’s believed Everton, along with Nottingham Forest, Fenerbahce and Sevilla are all showing interest in the hot-headed 26-year-old.

Interesting

On a free transfer, the Colombian could well be worth a punt. He’s been prolific in front of goal for Rangers for a number of years.

He’s clearly looking for one last big pay cheque and a Premier League move could well make a lot of sense.

From Everton’s perspective, an experience Premier League frontman has to come through the door. For too long they have languished behind when it comes to the striking department. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been plagued by injuries and it’s getting to a point where the board could look to cash in on the 26-year-old.

Neal Maupay has been a woeful addition; the sooner he’s sold the better. Ellis Simms has shown potential but is certainly not the answer to the Toffees’ goalscoring issues.

Do we really trust the board to make a sensible decision? Since the season’s end, there have been some departures, but the same unprofessionalism runs from the top of the club down.

Until Farhad Moshiri sells up – it’s hard to see any significant change to the systemic issues that plague Goodison Park.

If he remains next season, the same problems, will, unfortunately, come to the fore.
