Path clear for Everton to land Jack Harrison ‘cut price’ deal as Leeds United release clause emerges

Everton are interested in signing winger Jack Harrison following Leeds United’s relegation from the Premier League, according to CBS journalist, Ben Jacobs.

talkSPORT reported on 29 May that the 26-year-old has a “relegation release clause” in his contract which could allow for a “cut price” exit from Elland Road.

Talking to Leeds United Ultras, Jacobs has claimed there isn’t too much interest in the winger.

“There may not be as many queuing up for Harrison as you might think,” Jacobs told Leeds United Ultras YouTube channel (26m 54s, 15 June).

“I would keep an eye on Everton and West Ham United.”

Interesting

If a cut-price deal for Harrison is on the cards, it’s certainly something the board should look into.

Harrison was a standout performer during the Whites’ 2022/23 season and looks destined to return to the top flight during the summer. He’s an excellent age and can provide a moment of attacking brilliance out of nothing.

If there is a relatively clear path to the 26-year-old, the Goodison Park board would be crazy not to investigate a little further.

Smarter footballing decisions have to be made during the summer – and after a number of high-profile departures, hopefully, change is afoot.

A decision still needs to be made on Bill Kenwright’s future and Farhad Moshiri still needs to take a step back. It’s hard to envisage Everton really making significant steps forward until their owner has retreated long into the distance.

Unless significant steps are taken during the off-season, another relegation dog-fight will ensue next season.
