Everton transfer news as two areas likely to see money spent at Goodison Park
Tom Davies’ departure from Everton could well mean Sean Dyche is forced into the transfer market to address another pressing area of need when funds are limited, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Everton announced on 22 June that the Finch Farm academy product is now set to call time on his 11-year Everton career, going on to make 179 appearances, scoring seven goals.
Football Transfers revealed on 15 June that the Toffees had offered the midfielder new terms on Merseyside with some guarantees of a suitable amount of appearances for the next campaign and hand Everton the chance to address depleted areas at left-back and in the attack.

However, Davies’ decision to quit Goodison Park has potentially thrown a spanner Everton’s transfer plans with the Toffees not having the necessary funds to strengthen all areas of the pitch.
And according to Liverpool Echo [22 June], Dyche and director of football Kevin Thelwell may now be forced to add the midfield as a position to address also.
“Davies’ departure could therefore force Dyche and Thelwell into the transfer market at a time when funds are thought to be limited and the priorities lie elsewhere – any money available preferably needs to go on finding attacking support for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and competition at left-back for Vitalii Mykolenko.”
Desperate midfield need
Davies’ departure has certainly thrown a spanner in the work for Everton but the Toffees will have been forced to address the position regardless of whether Davies left or not.
Key man Amadou Onana could also reportedly depart the club this summer, with a £55m move mooted and the Belgian leaving will leave a gaping hole in an area lacking considerable quality.

The Toffees may well have to allow Onana the chance to depart in order to fund moves for a new left-back, striker and midfielder, preferably two.
It is clear that Dyche simply cannot go into next season with the same options he holds right now all Everton fans will be in for another difficult and tumultuous campaign in the Premier League. The squad needs addressing and it needs to be done very quickly.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are in hot pursuit of one 35-cap international as his £17million price tag is revealed.
