Everton transfer news: James Rodriguez Goodison return development shocks Sky Sports pundit amid Brighton interest
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell simply can’t believe that Everton would be in for a reunion with James Rodriguez because he isn’t the type of player Sean Dyche would like.
AS in Spain relayed journalist Christian Martin’s 7 May report on El Futbolero Colombia that the Toffees were one of a host of Premier League clubs who had investigated a Premier League return through intermediaries along with the likes of Brighton, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
But ex-Everton and Arsenal striker Campbell has scoffed at the possibility and thinks there is no chance that the Colombian former Real Madrid star will be back at Goodison Park any time soon.

The Sky Sports pundit reacted exclusively to Goodison News, saying: “Who’s been saying that Everton are one of the teams [interested]? Because I don’t really see him as a Dyche-type player.
“That’s for sure.
“That’s all news to me that one.
On the chances of it actually happening he was clear: “No, no.”

It is difficult to ever truly rule anything out in the transfer market but Everton re-signing the former Carlo Ancelotti favourite two years after he first left the club has to be one of the longest of long shots.
While Dyche could use the creativity that the 31-year-old undoubtedly possess, and showed off with six goals and nine assists in all competitions in his one season with the Toffees, the one-time Galactico doesn’t seem like the source he would try to get it from.
With Dyche needing to find a solution to Dele Alli’s future it probably wouldn’t be a great idea to add another mercurial talent to the wage bill.
Stranger things have happened, but after time in Qatar and Greece since leaving Merseyside it would be a major surprise to see him return now.
